The team got a mysterious charge to keep Susan Carol McCarthy, an art student at CSU Sacramento alive for a weekend.
After requesting from their contact espionage equipment, a large supply of Benzedrine, and some prescription sedatives, the team receives the requested supplies along with a substantial amount of cash.
After considerable planning and monitoring of Susan in the apartment she rented with two fellow female students, the team followed her to the art building where she prepared to fire a number of clay sculptures for her senior exhibit. While she arranging her pieces inside the large kiln, a member of the team observed to male students apparently confused as to which kiln they were using attempted to start the kiln with Susan still inside. The team member intervened and alerted Susan to the danger, but startled she dropped and ruined one of her pieces.
Deciding to blow of some steam Susan and a roommate went out to a goth bar where they proceeded to get drunk. After some dancing Susan exited the club to an alley with a boy she had been flirting with. A team member followed to observe here and discovered the two of them having sex. After a few minutes they were interrupted by gang members who threatened Susan, who responded by grabbing a canister of pepper spray from her purse. The team engaged the gang and drove them off.
Later that night the a team member entered Susan’s apartment with the intent to drug here in order to prevent her from endangering herself the next day. The administration of the drug was not entirely successful, resulting in Susan waking late, somewhat groggy, and with a terrible hangover. She rushed to the art building in order to redo the ruined sculpture with the team following. On the way, the team noticed a suspicious vehicle also following Susan and decided to hang back and follow it.
Arriving at the art building just behind the suspicious vehicle the team observed Gertrude Steinman and Earnest Steinman getting out of their vehicle carrying weapons. Attempting to engage, the team crashed and rolled their SUV. After a brief firefight the Steinmans were subdued and the team left with them in a second vehicle. The team left for the safehouse as both Gertrude and one of the team needed urgent medical care.
One member of the team stayed behind to watch Susan. Finding her in a nearby coffee shop tired and distraught he explained his mission. Unnerved by previous events, Susan accepted the protection of the team.
